Perched on the edge of Walker Bay between ancient fynbos and the South Atlantic, Grootbos is a conservation project that happens to have extraordinary lodges. The 2,500-hectare private nature reserve protects one of the most biodiverse plant kingdoms on Earth — the Cape Floral Region, home to more plant species per square meter than the Amazon. Every stay directly funds habitat management, trail maintenance, and the Green Futures College, which trains young people from surrounding communities in conservation and hospitality.
"We don't manage wilderness. We participate in it."
