Posada Amazonas sits in the Peruvian Amazon inside Ese'eja indigenous territory, accessible only by a two-hour boat journey from Puerto Maldonado. The lodge was built in partnership between Rainforest Expeditions and the Ese'eja community — and after 20 years, the Ese'eja now hold 60% ownership and manage all daily operations. Guides are community members who grew up on this land. The macaw clay lick, the medicinal plant trails, the nighttime jungle walks — all are led by people for whom this is not an interpretation. It is home.
